The Need to Write It Down ~

I have not been journaling. And I can feel the difference. When I journal, things slow down. Thoughts settle. Patterns become clearer. I can see where I have been, where I am going, and what needs to shift.

Without it, everything stays in motion. Ideas come while I am driving, insights surface, emotions move through, and then they disappear before I have time to understand them. I lose track of myself.

An article from the University of Rochester Medical Center explains that journaling helps manage stress, clarify thoughts, and track personal growth over time.

I know this to be true. Journaling is not about writing something profound. It is about writing something honest. Anything. A sentence, a thought, a question.

Nature keeps records in its own way. Rings in trees. Layers in rock. Paths worn into the earth. Growth leaves evidence. I need that evidence in my own life. Not for anyone else, but for me.

So I am working to start a journal routine again. Not perfectly, not daily, just intentionally. One page, one thought, one moment at a time.

Because when I write, I remember who I am, and where I want to go.
