The Pause Before I Begin Again ~

I’m heading back for another seven days of intensive therapy. Not as an escape. Not as a restart.

As a pause.

This is the space where I gather myself; where I stop trying to carry everything alone. A space where I remember that healing is not a straight line, but a rhythm. I go to work deeply, day after day, learning new ways of thinking, feeling, responding. EMDR. DBT.

I come home exhausted; quieter; different.

And then I live with what I’ve learned for a few months, before I return again to continue the cycle.

This isn’t failure. It's an iteration. It’s how roots grow: slowly, invisibly, reaching again and again for steadier ground.

Nature has always understood this. Trees shed their leaves so they can rest. Rivers pause in still pools before continuing their course. Music does this, too. Rests fall between notes that give the song meaning. Without the pause, there is only noise or complete silence.

I’ve learned that my healing needs these pauses. Time to reflect. Time to release. Time to refocus before I return to my life and practice what I’ve gathered.

Psychology Today explains that real change happens in cycles. Learning, applying, returning, and refining. Growth is built through repetition, not perfection. Mindful shares how intentional pauses help the nervous system reset and create space for new patterns to take root.

So I’m pausing. Not because I’m lost—but because I’m listening.

I’ll gather what I need. I’ll return. And then I’ll live again; until the next time my soul asks for stillness.

This is my rhythm now.
