Refocused ~
This week has provided me with the opportunity to stop and refocus on my initial vision for my future. My older daughter had made a comment to me a while ago that I had not let go of…“I thought you wanted to make life simple.” And, I do. Minimizing my living space and removing so many responsibilities I have in home ownership have been a goal. The vision for my business and the three entities that are under that business are my passion. The ability to take my house with me wherever I go and to travel throughout North America…these are the things that stir my soul. Yesterday, I had this wonderful reminder of how good it feels to stay on course and to do God’s work.
I met with Alli yesterday from Alli Marie Marketing. I initially met Alli at the Reno Small Business Conference in May of this year. In addition to her marketing firm, Alli started a non-profit, She Means Business. Alli and her team are supporting young women 16-20 years of age who not only dream about being in business but who actually start their businesses. Her passion for young women, including those at-risk, touched my own passions in meeting the needs of high school students with disabilities; helping them to find their purpose as they prepare for post-secondary opportunities. It was because of She Means Business that Alli and I connected and that I got to learn about her own business, Alli Marie Marketing.
Alli is a 26 year old Christian woman who is making a footprint in the Reno/Sparks area; not just for herself but for her community. Mature, articulate, and relatable, you would think she was a seasoned professional well into her prime of her career. Alli and I connected via Zoom a couple of weeks ago to talk about JM Lane, LLC, and my three entities. I have struggled to find that clear and concise elevator pitch to talk about the work that I am now doing. And, I want to take my work to the next level. I need help. So, yesterday, Alli and I met at Roamer Coffee in Sparks for our first power hour conversation. I had not shared much with Alli about what I envisioned as to what my next steps might be. I really wanted to hear Alli’s thoughts first. As Alli shared her ideas, I began to realize that Alli’s and my connection was God’s doing. She was not only envisioning what I had, but she reminded me of what I had started out to achieve. I cannot wait until our next meeting.
If you read last week's blog, you will know I was seriously contemplating purchasing property. I had not given up the dream of my tiny home on wheels, but thought I would purchase land for a home base. Well, that consideration is no more. I need to keep life simple and focus on my purpose. I needed that conversation with Alli yesterday. Her energy and enthusiasm as to what I was trying to achieve reignited me and refocused me.
Excited about the road ahead ~ julie
